Pathology

Depsition of calcium Hydroxiapatite in supraspinatous

Phases

1.Precalcification
2.Calcification stage-Formation→Resting→Resorption
3.Post calcific stage

Natural history

Self limiting with complete resolution

Imaging

AP in ER and IR

Blood Tests

Usually low grade increase in CRP ESR

Treatment Non-operative

1.Physiotherapy
2. NSAIDS
3. Steroid Injection

Surgical-indications

Indications
1. Ongoing severe pain
2. Progression
3. No improvement after non-operative measures

Surgery

I would offer Arthroscopic Bursal debridement
Other options include open debridement or Aspiration under LA or GA
