Indentured ServantA colonist who received free passage to North American in exchange for a certain amount of years of servitude.
ColonizationA system where one country extends its control over another area, especially for economic ($$$) benefit.

MercantilismThe idea that colonies exist to benefit their mother country.
Northwest PassageA nonexistent waterway that early explorers searched for.
MonopolyWhen one company or country has the sole control of a business (like making shoes) or product (like sugar).
AllianceAn agreement between 2 or more countries.
