What are two sacraments of healing? Reconciliation and Anoiting of the Sick
Purposes of the sacarament of healing- 1- healing spiritual weakness and illness
2- remove sin, prepare for closer relationship with God
3- Spiritual grace: connection to God and church
4- strengthen ourselves by joining our suffering with Jesus' suffering
Steps of Reconciliation- 1- Realize you did something wrong and you are sorry (contrition)

What is the form of Reconciliation? I absolve you... (these are words of absolution)
What is the matter of Reconciliation? confession of sins and penance
Who is the ordinary minister of Reconciliation? Priest or bishop
Effects of Reconciliation- 1- Strength to avoid sin in the future
2- Forgiveness of social and personal sin
3- reconciling to god and his church
4- restoral to baptismal state
Conversion- Change from a life of sin to a good life
Contrition- When you are sorry for your sins and dont do it again
Perfect Contrition- Sorry and want to avoid sin cause you love God
Imperfect Contrition You are not really sorry and perform reconciliation because you are scared of punishment.
Absolution- When preist assures you of God's mercy, blesses you as a person of Christ and represents the church
What is the form of Anoiting of the Sick? prayers that a biship or deacon says
What is the matter of Anoiting of the Sick? laying on of hands and anoiting oil
Who is the ordinary minister for Anoiting of the Sick? Priest, bishop, or deacon
Effects of Anointing of the Sick- 1. Spiritual healing and strengthening (physical sometimes)
2. Unite person with God and CHurch in preperation to heaven
Viaticum- Eucharist for people in danger or at high risk of death.
What are the three sacraments of Initiation? Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist
What are two Sacaraments at Service of Community? Holy Orders and Matrimony
What are the effects of Baptism?- We are united to Christ and his Church
- We are cleansed of "original" and personal sin
- We are initiated into new life in Christ and the Holy Spirit
- We are a new creation, dying to old life and rising in Christ
- We are adopted children of God
- We are co-heir to the Kingdom of God, partaking in the divine nature
- We become temples for the Holy Spirit, receiving the traditional
What is the scriptural basis for Baptism? Old Testament/Hebrew Scriptures= the Flood, the crossing of the Red Sea and the Jordan River
New Testament= John the Baptist and the Christ's own baptism, Jesus' commissioning of the Apostels, Peter's baptizing the crowd at Pentecost
What is the form of baptism? Trinitarian Formula = "I baptize you in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

- Strenghtening of our identity as a baptized child of God
- Anointing for sharing the mssion of Jesus and the Church
- As temples of the Holy Spirit, we open ourselves to the traditional Gifts of the Holy Spirit, given to us at our Baptism
- Witnessing the fruits of life in the Spirit in ones living and behavior
What is the scriptural basis for Confirmation? Old Testament/Hebrew Scriptures= anointing for mission, refrences to the coming of the Spirit in Isaiah (the Spirit of the Lord is upon me)
New Testament= Laying on of the hands of the apostels (Jesus commissions aposteles; apostles do in prayer/healing/ordination); The event of Pentecost where the Spirit fills disciples/apostles with grace to strengthen them for the mission of Christ.
What is the Form of Confirmation? "Be sealed with the gift of the Holy Spirit."
What is the Matter of Confirmation? Chrism oil in sign of the cross, laying on of hands
Who is the ordinary minister in Confirmation? Bishop or authorized priest.
