Which line is perpendicular to the ground? Vertical
Which line is between perpendicular and parallel? Diagonal

What does 'Form Follows Function' mean? It means that every garment has to have a function. For example, in the winter time you would wear long-sleeves, sweatpants, a heavy coat, and boots because they would keep you warm in the cold weather. That is the outfit's function, to keep you warm.
How is the body affected by strong vertical lines? It makes the person look taller and thinner.
How is the body affected by strong horizontal lines? It makes the person look wider.
How is the body affected by strong curved lines? It adds femininity to the person/outfit.
How is the body affected by strong diagonal lines? It adds excitement and draws attention to the person.
What is Hue? What is an example of a Hue? It is another name for a color. An example would be blue.
What is Value of a color? What is an example of the Value of a color? The lightness or darkness of a color. An example would be light-blue.
What is a Tint of a color? What is an example of a Tint of a color? A color that is lightened by adding white. An example would be pink.
What is a Shade of a color? What is an example of a Shade of a color? A color that is darkened by adding black. An example would be navy-blue.

What are the Secondary colors? List them. The colors that appear halfway between the primary colors. They are green, violet, and orange.
What are the Tertiary or Intermediate colors? List them. The rest of the colors on the color wheel. They are blue-green, blue-violet, yellow-green, yellow-orange, red-violet, and red-orange.
What are the Neutral colors? They are black, white, and gray.
What is the Intensity of color? The brightness or dullness of a color.
What does the color wheel consist of and what is its purpose? The 12 colors in a circle to display how the colors are related to each other.
What do sergers have below the needle (to be threaded) instead of a bobbin? Loopers.
What is the standard seam allowance for garments? 5/8 inch.
What are 3 safety rules for using the sewing machine? Use a slow speed, keep your fingers and head away from the machine, and don't stitch over pins.
What do you use to take out stitches when you make a mistake? A seam-ripper.
When using a conventional machine, in which direction should you pull the 2 threads before sewing? Back behind the presser foot.
