Tortprivate wrong committed by 1 persomn against another person or another person's property. A person who commits a tort is called a tortfeasor.The tortfeasor is the defeandent and the victim is the plaintiff.
Intentional Tortact that is intented to hurt, embarrass, or scare another person or to damage another person's property. Assault, Battery, Defamation, Intentional infliction of emotional distress, False imprisonment, Invasion os privacy.

Negligenceis a tort that occurrs due to carelessness.It is an accident. The injury wan not intended. there are 4 elementes of negligence. the defendent owns the plaintiff a duty of care. the defendent committed a breach of that duty. the breach of duty was the proximate cause of harm. the plaintiff suffered actual harm.
Proximate Causeis the cause that immediately and directly results in a specific event. if a person can eleminate any one of the 4 elemants, the lawsuit will not be successful.
Contributory Negligenceis when the victim did something that helped cause his or her own injury
Comparitive Negligenceis when the negligence of the victim is compared to that of the defendent. A victim who is partially responsible may collect only partial damage.
Assumption od Riskoccurs when the victim understood the risk involving in an activity and took the chance of being injured.
Strict Liabilityexist even if the defendent is not negligence. 1.) if you engae in abnormally dangerous activity.EX: target practice,blasting,crop dusting,ect. 2.) ownership of dangerous animals, using explosives, storing toxic, or flammable materials.
Compensatory (Actual) Damageit is a monitary award given to the injury party to compensate fo rhteir loss as if the tort never accurd.
Punitive Damageare addition damage. The ammount they come out with ment to punish the defendent not compensate the plaintiff.
