A bony prominence

spine, spinous, or styloid process

a sharp projection or blade

tubercle

a small, rounded projection

tuberosity

a medium, rounded projection

trochanter

a massive, rounded projection (only in femur)

condyle

a rounded (concave or convex) articular process

epicondlye

a prominence above a condyle, usually for attachment of ligaments

facet

a flat surface usually for articulation

crest

a prominent ridge

head

a prominent, rounded articulation usually at the proximal end of the bone

ramous

an arm-like bar of bone

fossa

a depression or pit

fovea

small cup-like depression

fissure

a narrow cleft-like opening

foramen

a rounded opening through a bone

grove or sulcus

a furrow that accommodates a soft structure such as a nerve or blood vessel, perhaps both.

sinus

a cavity or hollow space within a bone

meatus

a short tubular passage through a bone

canal

a medium to long tubular passage through a bone, or an opening
