Fine (small) Motor | Movement of small muscles (writing, puzzles, stringing beads, grasping) |
Cognitive Development | Growth in the mental processes used to gain knowledge (thought, reasoning, imagination) |

Shaken Baby Syndrome | Violent shaking of a child that results in injury or death. |
Rule of 10 | When frustrated with a baby. Put them down in a safe place, get 10 feet away, take 10 deep breaths, check on in 10 minutes. Doing this prevents Shaken Baby Syndrome |
Separation Anxiety | A child's difficulty in separating from parents. |
Object Permanence | An understanding that objects continue to exist even if a person cannot see them. |
Motor Sequence | Order in which a child is able to perform new movements (sitting, crawling, walking). |
