Neuroleptic Malignant Syndrome rapid onset of high temp., parkinsonian muscle rigidity, diaphoresis, change in mental status. Symptomatic treatment and DANTROLENE (DATRIUM) USED TO TREAT!!
Serotonin syndrome SSRI side effect - Restlessness, increased body temp, hyperreflexia, tachycardia, labile BP, diaphoresis, shivering, tremors. "hyperactivity on the body"
Tyramine foods ( can cause HTN crisis) from MAOI drugs. Look for severe occipital headaches Aged cheese (cheddar), raisins, fava beans, Italian beans, red wines, smoked and processed meats (salami, pepperoni), caviar, pickled herring, corned beef, chicken, beef or liver, soy sauce, brewer's yeast, MSG
