Legitimacy The state of being in compliance with the law
Liberalism a political orientation that favors social progress by reform and by changing laws rather than by revolution
Malnutrition Poor nutrition becuase of insufficient or unbalanced diets
Maritime bordering on or living or characteristic of those near the sea
Medieval relating to or belonging to the Middle Ages
Mercantalism The theory that a country's power depended mainly on its wealth. This theory was adopted by the Europeans in the 1500's during imperialism in the Americas.
Metallurgy The science that deals with extracting metals from an ore
Middle Class the social class between the lower and upper classes
Migration the movement of persons from one country or locality to another
Modernity the quality of being current or of the present
Monarchy state ruled over by a single person, as a king or queen
Monasticism a way of life in which men and women withdraw from the rest of the world in order to devote themselves to their faith
