Financial Accounting information includes revenues, taxes, debts, and profit and losses.
Data used in business operations Includes inventory, client lists, schedules, vendors, prices, and costs.
Application Controls Input, process, and output controls
Types of Controls Personnel, System Development, Disaster, Network and Facility, and accounting.
System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) It organizes development in a project definition Phase and a project initiation phase. This organization and documentation of the prcess helps to ensure that appropiate controls are incorporated into the system.
Project Definition (SDLC) It includes:

- Systems investigation and feasibility study
Project Initiation (SDLC) It includes:
- Systems analysis
- Systems design
- Systems implementation
- Systems evaluation and maintenance
Hot SIte Often called a duplex system. A location that includes a system configured like the firm's production system. Duplex systems run simultaneously with the regular system and a failure in the main system can trigger an automatic switchover to the backup.
Warm Site a back up site that has hardware and software available and can be made operational within a short timeframe.
Cold Site A location where the company can install equipment and personnel on fairly short notice and begin operations using back up files.
Input Controls It provides a system of checks and balances over the input of data or transactions into the system
Processing Controls Controls to address the system's manipulation of the data after it is input.
Output Controls Controls for validating processing results and controls regulating distribution of output, printed or electronic.
