ALLUSION an indirect reference
ANTAGONIST a major character in a book, play, or story whose values or behavior are in conflict with the hero
BULLET used to highlight items in a printed list
COMPARE to examine two or more people or things in order to discover similarities between them
CONFLICT opposition between characters/forces in a literary work that shapes or motivates the action of a plot
CONTRAST something that is different, compared with something else
DESCRIPTION the process of giving an account or explanation of something
DYNAMIC/ROUND CHARACTER character encounters conflict and is changed by it
FACT something that can be shown to be true, to exist, or to have happened
FLASHBACK a sudden and disturbing vivid memory of an event in the past

FORESHADOW used to indicate or suggest something, usually unpleasant, that is going to happen
