articulates with tarsals, attaches to adductor hallucis, flexor digiti minimi, peroneus brevis, peroneus longus (1), peroneus tertius (5), tibialis anterior (1) muscles

Shaft of metatarsals

attaches to plantar and dorsal interossei

Head of metatarsals

articulates with proximal phalanx, attaches to adductor hallucis muscle

Base of phalanges

articulates with metatarsal of proximal phalanx, attaches to abductor digiti minimi, abductor hallucus, adductor hallucis, dorsal interossei, extensor digitorum longus (2-5), extensor hallucis brevis, extensor hallucis longus (1), flexor digitorum longus (2-5), flexor digiti minimi, flexor hallucis brevis and flexor hallucis longus (1) muscles

Shaft of phalanges

attaches to flexor digitorum brevis, dorsal interossei and palmar interossei muscles

Head of phalanges

articulates with distal phalanx
