Physics Studies the nature of basic things such as motion, force, energy, matter, heat, sound, light, and composition of atoms.
What does Physics help? To understand other sciences.
Galileo and Francis Bacon are the Founders of what? The Scientific Method.
What is the Scientific Method Recognize a problem. form a hypothesis. Gather data. Form a conclusion.
Fact Agreement about a phenomena by competent observers.
What is a Hypothesis? An educated guess with very little evidence.
Law or principle A phenomena that has been tested many times and not contradicted.
Theory Large body of information that will be well tested and verified hypothesis about certain aspects of the natural world.
What is a Scientific Hypothesis? An educated guess that must be testable. If there is no way to test for "wrongness" it is not a scientific hypothesis.
Speculation When something cannot be proven wrong. Ex: the moon causes people to act crazy.
What is Science? Method of answering theoretical questions.
Technology Method of solving practical problems.
Science is concerned with what? Discovery and recording natural phenomena.
Arts is concerned with what? The value of human interactions as the pertain to the senses.
Religion is concerned with what? The source, purpose, and meaning of everything.
How does math help science? When scientific findings are expressed mathematically they are easier to prove or disprove.
What happens when evidence contradicts a hypothesis? It must be changed or abandon.
Natural Philosophy The study of un answer questions about nature.
