narrator

conflict

main problem faced by the main character(s)

inference

guess based on a known fact

main idea

what a passage is mainly about

genre

a style or kind of literature
(ex. fiction, nonfiction, poetry, drama)

rhyme

words that have the same vowel sounds and the same final consonant sounds
(ex. cat, sat, hat)

sensory words

words that describe something we can taste, feel, hear, smell, or see

valid generalization

a true statement

point of view

the position or angle from which a story is told

first person

one of the characters tells the story
(I, me, we)

third person

someone on the outside of the story who is telling the story
(he, she, they)
