longitude | Set of imaginary lines that go around the earth over the pole, dividing it east to west |
equator | Imaginary lines that encircles the globe, making northern and southern hemispheres |
prime meridian | Dividing the globe into eastern and westen hemispheres |
topography | The combined characteristics of landforms and their distribution of a region |
physical map | Type of map: shows identifiable landmarks such as rivers, mountains, etc |
contour map | Type of map: illustrated with contour lines |
political map | Type of map: shows territorial borders |
map scale | the ratio of a distance on a map to teh corresponding distance on the ground |
