Mouth it is where the digestion of food starts
Esophagus long muscular tube extending from the back of the mouth to the stomach
Stomach bean shaped organ where food is temporarily stored
Small Intestine it is where the greater part of digestion takes place
Large Intestine it is where undigested food is stored temporarily
Rectum the end of large intestines where feces are finally squeezed and then leaves the body through the anus

Saliva contains ptyalin that changes starch into sugar
Enzymes Chemical juices that speed up the digestion of food in the body
Bolus A thick paste-like combination of chewed food
Chyme Partially digested food
Villi Finger-like projections in the small intestines
Peristalsis waves of muscle contraction
Mucus lubricates and protects the stomach from physical damage
Hidrochloric Acid kills the bacteria that are absorbed by the stomach along with food. (also called stomach acid)
