movement use of the body as a means of communication
locomotor movement Movement that travels from place to place, usually identified by weight transference. basic locomotor movements are walk, run, leap, hop, jump, skip, slide, gallop.
axial movementMovement anchored to one spot by a body part. Only the available space in any direction is used while the initial body contact is being maintained. Movement is organized around the axis of the body and is not designed to travel from one location to another. Examples include stretching, bending, turning in place, gesturing.
