Albany Plan of Union (1754)
A plan to place the British North American colonies under a more centralized government. The plan was adopted on July 10,1754, by representatives from seven of the british North American colonies. Although never carries out, it was the first important plan to conceive of the colonies as a collective whole united under one government.

Albany Plan of Union (1754)A plan to place the British North American colonies under a more centralized government. Deerfield Massacre (February 29, 1704) The raid occured during Queen Anne's War, when French and Native American forces under the command of Jean-Baptiste Hertel de Rouville attacked the English settlement just before dawn razing the town and killing 56 colonists.
Edict of Nantes (1598) Issued on April 13,1598, y Henry IV of France, granted the Calvanists Protestants of France (huguenots) substancial rights in nation still considered essentially Catholic.
Fort Necessity Fayette County, Pennsylvania, US. The battle occured on July 3, 1754 and was an early battle of the French and Indian War.
French and Indian War (Seven Year War) North American war (1754-63) between France and Great Britain.
George Washington 1st president of the United State. Commander-in-chief of the Continental Army during the American Revolution.
Iroquois A member of former confederacy of North America Indian people origanally comprising the Cayuga, Mohawk, Oneida, Onondaga, and Senaca people (known as the Five Nations) and later also including the Tuscarora (thus forming the Six Nations).
Join or Die Well known political cartoon, created by Benjamin Franklin and first published in his Pennsylvania Gazette on May 9, 1754. The original publication of the Gazette is the earliest known pictorial representation of colonial union produced by British colonists in North America.
King George's War (1744-1748) English-French conflict over Canada. During the course of the War of Spanish succession (called Queen Anne's War in America), French and Indian forces were in conflict with the English in Canada for setllements there.
King William's War (1689-1697) The first of the French and Indian Wars, this name was used in the English colonies in America.
Louis XIV "Sun King" King of France from 1643 to 1715; his long reign was marked by the expansion of French influnce in Europe and by magnificence of his court and the Palace of Versailles.
Guerilla Warfare The unconventional warfare and combat with which a small group of combatants use mobile tactics (ambush,raids, etc.) to combat a larger and less mobile formal army.
Huguenots French Calvanists and protestant of the 16th century.
Pontiac's Rebellion of 1763 An uprising by American Indian tribes of the Eastern Great Lakes region.
Proclamation Line of 1763 Issued October 7, 1763, by King George III following Great Britain's acqustition of French territory in N. America after the end of the French and Indian War.
Salutary Neglect An undocumented, though long standing British policy of avoiding strict enforcement of parlimentary laws, meant to keep the American colonies obediant to Great Britain.
Treaty of Paris (1763) Signed on February 10, 1763, by the kingdom of Great Britain, France, and Spain with Portugal in agreement. It ended the French and Indian War.
War of Jenkins Ear (1739-1748) A conflict between Great Britain and Spain that lasted from 1739 to 1748, with major operations largely ended by 1742
William Pitt "Great Commoner" A British Wigg statesman who achieved his greatest fame leading Britain during the Seven Year's War.
