Active Cell Location in the worksheet that will display typed data or that will be affected by a command
Cell Pointer Select Cells when you see this icon by clicking or dragging the mouse
Dialog Box Launcher Located at the lower right of many ribbon groups.
Click the downward-poiting diagonal arrow in a group to open the dialog box with more options for that group
File Tab Displays the Backstreet view with the document management actions such as save or print and a list of recently opened workbooks
Formula Bar Displays the contents stored in te active cell
Minimize the ribbon Click to show or hide the ribbon
Name Text Box Displays the active cell address or name assigned to active cell
Quick Access Tool bar Contains buttons for commonly used command which can be executed with a single mouse click
Ribbon area containing the tabs and commands divided into groups
Sheet Tabs Identifies worksheets in the workbook
Use these tabs to change the active worksheet
Status Bar Displays the current mode , action messaages , View buttons and Zoom slider
Tabs Commands and features in the ribbon that are organized into related groups which are accessed by clicking tab name
Title bar Displays workbook name followed by program name
Vertical and Horizontal Scroll Bars Used to view various parts of the worksheet beyond the current screen
Worksheet Area Contains cells used to create the worksheet
Spreadsheet is a table used to store variouys types of data
The data is arranged in rows and columns to make it easier to store, organize and analyze the information
Workbook Information created in a worksheet and saved in a file called workbook. A workbook can contain a number of worksheets
Cell Intersection of row and Column
Cell Address Location in the worksheet . It is represented by column first and row second
Example woould be: A1
Range is a group of adjacent cells used in formulas and formatting
Contains the starting cell and the ending cell
Example would be (A1:D14)
Function is a preprogrammed formula such as
SUM
AVERAGE
MAX
MIN
Formulas are entered into a cell to preform mathematical calculations within a worksheet .
A formual always begins with an equal sign after the equal sign is the function then the argument
Argument is the term given to the values identified with the parenthesis within a formula
Auto Complete This action completes text entries as you start to type a new entry in a cell
Label is an entry that helps the reader relate to the values in corresponding column/row
