speech assessment data need to be broard base and looking at production in?
single words; spontaneous speech. A connected speech sample looks at imitated, elicited, spontaneous and consistency in word repetition
analysis/interpretation determines what areas?
if there is a disorder; which category(articulation-v-phonological); if treatment is indicated/required; target selection is it developmental/non-developmental; intervention approach (independant or relational)
What does independant analysis focus on?
what the child produced INDEPENDANT to the adult target, we don't care what correct words they make only the correct sounds that were heard(this goes towards their inventory and are the positional constraints of initial, medial or final...or vowel/consonant inventory-was the sound present/absent) important towards choosing target.
What does relational analysis focus on?
Looks at what the child produced in relation to the adult target - it ascertains what the child is having difficulty with in relation to the phonology they are trying to learn(phonological processes, word shapes and mismatches)
Independant analysis of word shapes and syllables consists of?
word shapes(C+V combos); syllable shapes within words - such as 1,2,3,4 syllables said
Independant analysis of syllable stress consists of?
weak or strong; if whole syllable deleted - then weak syllable deletion; it provides stress constraints or which combination of stress patterns don't they have.
Overall what do you end up having when you do an independant analysis of speech?
Inventory Constraints (what they don't have);Positional Constraints: (where they don't have it);Sequence Constraints (C and V combinations the child doesn't have and syllable shapes they don't have);Stress constraints
In terms of relational analysis what are the main syllabic processes?
weak syllable deletion; reduplication
In terms of relational analysis what are the main consonant deletion processes?
cluster reduction; final consonant deletion
In terms of relational analysis what are the main segment change processes?
fronting;stopping; gliding; assimilation/harmony; de-voicing; deaffrication; cluster simplification
What does relational analysis of speech provide?
percent correct measures (PCC, PVC)
