nonfiction prose writing that is written about real people, events or issues
narrative a type of nonfiction that tells stories of real-life events or people
expository nonfiction that informs or explains
persuasive nonfiction that gives reasons and evidence to convince the reader to act or think a certain way
descriptive nonfiction that uses details to create mental pictures that trigger your senses
memoir a record of a memory of an event by a person who has experienced it or personally observed it
almanac a yearly publication that contains statistical information and general information such as weather, calendars, etc.
autobiography The life story of a real person narrated by himself or herself
biography a written history of a person's life written by another person
journal an account of day to day events; a record of experiences, ideas, or reflections for private use
review a critical description or analysis of a movie or book which contains its plot, characters, strengths and weaknesses

friendly letter a letter that transmits personal information and which can have either a formal or informal tone
business letter a letter of formal tone which acts as a record, request, or gives information necessary to conduct business.
