| medial rotation | rotation turned in, toward the midline |
| circumduction | movement where the distal end of a bone moves in a circle while the proximal end remains stable. |

| retraction | movement of shoulders posterior in a transverse plane (squeeze shoulder blades together) |

| depression | movment inferior in frontal plane (force shoulders inferior) |
| elevation through abduction | raise arm laterally overhead (jumping jack action) |
