## 11 terms

### Momentum

the product of a body's mass and its velocity

### Newton's Third Law of Motion

Whenever one object exerts a force on a second object, the second object exerts an equal and opposite force on the first.

### Centripetal Force

any force that causes an object to move in a circular path

### Centripetal Acceleration

acceleration toward the center of a curved or circular path

### Weight

A measure of the force of gravity on an object

### Gravity

attractive force between two objects that depends on the masses of the objects and the distance between them

### Air Resistance

opposes the motion of objects that move through the air

### Sliding Friction

a force that opposes the direction of motion of an object as it slides over a surface

### Static Friction

frictional force that prevents two surfaces from sliding past each other

### Friction

the force that opposes the motion of one surface as it moves across another surface

### Newton's Second Law of Motion

the acceleration of an object is in the same direction as the net force on the object
