Crust

the outermost and thinnest of Earth's layers

Mantle

the layer of the earth between the crust and the core

Core

the center part of the Earth which includes the liquid outer core and solid inner core

Plate

a large section of Earth's crust and upper mantle

the shaking of Earth's surface caused by the release of energy along a fault

Volcano

the changing of materials in a rock by chemical processes

Deposition

the laying down of material in a natural process

Erosion

the movement of materials away from one place

Igneous

type of rock formed when lava or magma cools and hardens

Sedimentary

type of rock formed when sediments are pressed together and cemented together.

Metamorphic

a type of rock formed when existing rock is
heated at high pressures and temperatures
