OBSERVATION

the process of obtaining information by using the senses

QUANTITATIVE

data that is measurable; obervations based on numbers

QUALITATIVE

type of data that is categorized by entries such as the labels (color, names, etc.)

DIRECT OBSERVATIONS

information that is obtained by using one's senses (seeing, hearing, smelling, tasting, touching)

INDIRECT OBSERVATIONS

information that's obtained by observations of others -- such as reports

HYPOTHESIS

a possible theory or conclusion that explains something or guesses about something

EVIDENCE

something that proves or disproves something
