| DNA | Deoxyribonucleic acid; the genetic material that carries information about an organism and is passed from parent to offspring. |
| Gene | A piece of the instructions that will determine 1trait, such as attatched or unattatched ears. Gennes are made up of the DNA molecule. |
| Chromosome | A strand of DNA that contains many genes, instructions for several traits. |
| Sex cell/gamete | Cell that only has 1/2 of the instructions because it will meet with another sex cell to make an individual |
| Allele | Each version of the trait |
| Dominate allele | This is the form of the trait that will be read first, and will always show up if it is present. |
| Recessive allele | The form of the trait that will only show up if no other version of the gene is present. It will be covered up or not used by your body |
| Purebred/homozygous | is an individual who has 2 versions of the gene, so 1 allele is hidden |
| Hybrid/Heterzygous | this is an idividual who has 2 different versions of the gene so 1 allele is hidden |
