### Commutative Property

Changing the order of the values you are adding or multiplying does not change the sum or product

### Associative property

Changing the grouping of numbers you are adding or mulitipying, does not change the product or sum.

The sum of a number and the additive identity, 0, is the number.

### Multiplicitive identity

The product of a number and the multiplicative identity, 1, is the number

### Distributive property

When you use the distributive property, you distribute the number outside the parentheses to each number inside the parentheses.

### Coefficient

A number that multiplies a variable

### Constant

A term that has no variables

### Like terms

Terms that have identical variables

### Equation

A mathematical sentence that contains an equals sign.

### Expression

Use of variables and numbers. Has no equal sign.

### Variable

a letter used to represent a number in a mathematical equation

The answer to a multiplication problem

The horizontal axis in a coordinate plane

The answer to a subtraction problem

The distance from a number to zero on a number line
