Nucleus | The nucleus contains the DNA of the cell, contains the nucleolus, and is surrounded by a membrane. |
Nucleolus | A dense "control center" for a cell. |
Cell Membrane | Controls what enters/leaves the cell, as well as protecting it from outer materials. This all known as semi-permeable. |
Cytoplasm | The watery substance between the membrane and the nucleus. Most of the organelles are located here. |
Mitochondria | Releases energy from food through cellular respiration. |
Ribosome | The site of protein synthesis. |
Endoplasmic Reticulum | The fluid-filled chambers that allow transport of materials. |
Golgi Complex | Stacks of membrane sacks that process, package, and store products for release. |
Vacuole | A nutrient and waste-filled organelle. |
Lysosome | Contains digestive enzymes to break down food. |
Contriole | / ANIMALS ONLY /Functions in cell division. |
Chloroplasts | / PLANTS ONLY /The site of photosynthesis, this is where plants get their green colour. |
Cell Wall | / PLANTS ONLY /Located outside the cell membrane, this organelle give the cell more support. |
