| grid | two sets of lines that make squares that are used to describe the exact location of something on a map |
| direction symbol | looks like a large plus sign on a map,showing which way north,south, east, and west point |

| intermediate directions | directions northeast, southeast, northwest, and southwest |
| globe | a model of the earth that you can turn to find places |
| sphere | a round object like a globe or ball |

| parallels | imaginary east-west lines around the earth |
