horizon line | the point where the sky meets level ground. eye level |
vanishing points | points that lie on the horizon line and are used to draw level objects |
perspective | a quassi-mathematical system for the representation of 3-d objects as they recede into the distance, on a 2-d surface |
foreshortening | perspective applied to a single object. Example-an arm pointing directly at the viewer so that little more than the hand can be seen |
renaissance | rebirth. the period of renewed interests in the arts during the 14th-16th centuries |
surrealism | a movement in art and literature that developed in the mid-1920s. things look real but don't or can't exist |
sketch | the rought draft of a composition |
study | a drawing or painting of a detail, such as a figure or a hand, made for the use in a larger composition |
