Acetylcholine (ACH)
Enables muscle action, learning, & memory. Undersply of production causes Alzheimer's.
Dopamine
Influences movement, learning, attention, and emotion. Excess= schizophrenia. Not Enough= Parkinson's.
Seratonin
Affects mood, hunger, sleep, and arousal. Not enough=depression. Prozac raises levels of this.
Norepinephrine
Helps control alertness and arousal. Not enough= slight depression.
GABA A major inhibitory neurotransmitter. Not enough=seizures, tremors, and insomnia.
Glutamate A major excitatory neurotransmitter; involved in memory. Excess=migraines, seizures. (NO MSG)
Endorphins The brain's neurotransmitter that are similar to morphine. Natural opiates that are released in response to pain and vigorous exercise. (Runner's high). Morphine mimics endorphins.
