| Discussion Boards | Online bulletin boards that provide a forum for users to post and respond to messages from other users. Usually aligned to a specific topic. |
| Moderated | An administrator and/or moderator monitors discussion threads for content and netiquette. |
| Un-moderated | No adminstrator/moderator is present. |
| Text messaging | Keyed messages relayed via a pager or cell phone. |

| Header | The top section of an email message that contains the author, date and subject of the email |
| Date | The date the message is created. |
| Subject | The topic of a message keyed into the header section that lets the recipient of an email message know exactly what the email is about. |
| CC | Notation for additonal recipients of the email. |
| BCC | Notation for recipients of the email that are hidden from view. |
| Signature | The name and contact information of the sender of the email. |
| Body | The message of the Memo. Can contain a request for action. |
| Attachment | Files that are sent along with the email. |
| Netiquette | Rules for Internet surfers that dictate how one should behave when "surfing" the web. |
