Lexington and Concord First battles of the American Revolution. "Shot heard round the World"
Saratoga Turning point of the American Revolution. This victory convinced the French to give aid to the Americans and helped win the Revolutionary war.
Yorktown Last major battle of the American Revolution; Cornwallis's army surrendered
Gettysburg Battle with the largest number of casualties in the Civil War. The turning point of the war for the Union. The Confederates never again tried to invade the North.
Vicksburg An important Union victory which gave them control of the Mississippi River and split the Confederacy into two parts
Battle of New Orleans One sided victory for the Americans during the War of 1812, in which General Andrew Jackson became a National hero
Ft. Sumter First shots of the Civil War fired by the Confederates
Treaty of Paris 1763 Official ended the French and Indian War
Treaty of Paris 1783 Official ended the American Revolution. Great Britain officially recognized the United States as an independent Nation.
