mitosis 2nd stage of cell division that includes 4 phases (prophase, metaphase, anaphase, & Telophase)
prophase the nuclear membrane disappears and the chromosomes coil up and the spindle begins to form; sister chromatids are attached forming an X shaped chormasome
metaphase chromosomes line up at the center of the spindle
anaphase each pair of sister chromatids sperate into two L shaped chromosomes and begin to migrate
telophase chromosomes reach end of spindle and begin to uncoil; spindal disappears; new nuclear membrandes form around each group resulting in two nuclei
