Mahavira | founder of Jainism; translates to 'hero'; 24th in a long line of tirthankaras(enlightened people); left kingdom and did lots of wandering and meditation(like the Buddha) |
Digambara | one of the 2 schools of Jainism; means 'sky-clad' because they're nudists; all men; live in the mountains and live a very strict lifestyle- women can't be enlightened, live on supernatural food and energy, meditate a lot; minority |
sallekhana | conscious death by starvation in Jainism because avoiding the killing of others saves all the other life forms around you |
jiva | soul/spirit; all matter has a soul and is conscious; abstractions like light, heat, space, etc don't have a soul |
Nanak | 1st Sikh guru; teacher and leader; he had a vision- his soul left his body and went underwater and God came to him and said that he was beyond all religions and that he should make peace between Hinduism and Islam |

khalsa | "soldier saint"- fighting to protect the community; baptized by a sword dipped in nectar or sugar water; no alcohol, drugs, or tobacco |
Shvetambara | other school of Jainism; "white clothes"- white mask over nose and mouth so they don't breathe in bugs, sweep ground in front of them; live lives of faith, good conduct |
