Pharynx Muscular structure in the back of the mouth; connects the mouth with esophagus and the rest of the digestiv tract.
Trachea Tube that carries air from the larynx to the lungs; also called the windpipe
Diaphragm Dome-shaped muscle that pulls the bottom of the chest cavity downward, increasing in volume; main muscle usedfor breathing; separates the chest cavity from the abominal cavity.
Larynx Structure in which air enters the respiratory system and the vocal chords are located.
Bronchi Air tubes that enter the lungs and branch off for gas exchange; bronchial tubes.
Bronchiole One of many very small air passageways that branch from the bronchi.
Alveoli (singular, alveolus) Tiny air sacs in the lungs surronded by a network of of capilliaries where gas exchange takes place.
