Three views of the essential Nature Trichotomy --body soul spirit
Dichotomy -- body and soul/spirit
Monism -- mankind is one element of a person; the body is the person and sould cannot exist without the body
Bible Says -Soul and spirit are interchangeable--"my soul glorifies the lord and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior"

-The 'pure' soul becomes sinful even before birth when it enters the body and born into a sinful world
Traducianism -The soul is transmitted to children by their parents at the time of conception
-This explains the doctrine of inherited sins from parents
Pre-existentianism -The soul existed before conception
-God brings the pre-existing soul to be joined to the body at conception
