Physical Map | A map that shows mountains, hills, plains, rivers, lakes, oceans, etc. |
Latitude | an imaginary line around the Earth parallel to the equator |
Birds Eye View Map | An aerial view of a location |
Political Map | A map that shows all the boundaries of nations and other political units |
Equator | an imaginary line around the center of the Earth |
Longitude | an imaginary great circle on the surface of the earth passing through the north and south poles. |

Large Scale Map | shows small area but great detail |
Small Scale Map | Map showing a large area of land but not much detail |
Parallel Line | two lines that never touch; like lines of latitude on a map. |

prime meridian | 0 degrees longitude |
coordinates | the longitude and latitude address of a location on a map |
Tropic of cancer | a line of latitude about 23 degrees North of the equator |
Tropic of capricorn | a line of latitude about 23 degrees South of the equator |
