pilonidal cysta cyst that often develops in the sacral region of the skin. May sometimes be recognized at birth by a depression, sometimes a hairy dimple in the midline in the back in the sacrococcygeal area. Do not cause problems usually but fistulas or sinuses may develop.
prostatisman abnormal condition of the prostate, particularly an enlargement of the gland resulting in obstructed urinary flow.
proctitisinflammation of the rectum and anus caused by infection, trauma, drugs, etc. Acute or chronic.

rectal polyptissue growths that arise from the wall of the rectum and protrude into it. They may be either benign or malignant (cancerous).
rectal prolapsenormally describes a medical condition wherein the walls of the rectum protrude through the anus and hence become visible outside the body.
retroverted uterusa common condition in which an organ is tipped backward, usually without flexion or other distortion. Uterus may be retroverted in as many as 1 in 4 women.
sphincter controlA ring-shaped muscle that encircles an opening or passage in the body. The opening and closing of the anus is controlled by contraction and relaxation of a sphincter, as is the opening that leads to the stomach from the esophagus.
