| New Spain (New Mexico) | This was most important city. The people of the city were influenced by the Pueblo Indians life. |
| New Spain (California) | Mission was the center of life. (1769-1823, 21 missions were built) Each mission held a lot of land and used for farming and ranching. Indians did most of the work here. They people who lived here were basically "cut off" from New Spain because of the distance. |
| New Spain (Texas) | Spain built 40 missions here but it was weaker than California. It was farther apart from Cali. |
| Mexican Rebellion | Led by Father Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla. On Sept 1810, 80,00 Indians rebelled against Spanish. They hoped it would improve their living conditions. But in 1811, Spanish killed the priest. But in 1821, they finally got independence. |
