Political organization government, law enforcement, & war & peace
Social organization Social organization of a group includes how people interact, how they divide up the various tasks that need to be completed, who has access to specific goods and knowledge, what ranking strategy is being used.
Surplus of Food Being able to make more food than was consumed. Farming innovation and the domestication of animals enabled this. Extra food allowed some people to do jobs other than farming which helped civilizations advance.
Specialization of labor individuals could specialize in different types of jobs; it was no longer necessary for everyone to be a farmer. People could be professional soldiers, scribes, artisans, and many many more.
Ability to smelt metal Ability to extract metal from ore in order to use it for tools
Written Language communication by means of written symbols
Shared beliefs Beliefs about the world that a group of people collectively believe to be true. For example: a creation myth
