| Tragedy | Tragedy is something that can happen that is shown and not told. Reveals what can or may happen at any certain point in time. |
| Katharsis | The word means purging. Tragedy effects certain emotions to purge away their excess, to reduce it to a smaller portion. |
| Peripeteia | A character creates the opposite effect from their actions that they intended. |
| Anagnorsis | A character turning from being stubborn to having the knowledge of a different character which may change the feelings between the two of them, for better or for worse. |
| Catastrophe | When the plot is simple. |
| Hamartia | A mistake that the character is going to make that is brought on by not knowing enough instead of moral weakness or being sinful. |
