Then he said to them all, 'If any want to become my followers, let them deny themselves and take up their
cross daily and follow me. For those who want to save their life will lose it, and those who lose their life
for my sake will save it. What does it profit them if they gain the whole world, but lose or forfeit
themselves? Those who are ashamed of me and of my words, of them the Son of Man will be ashamed
when he comes in his glory and the glory of the Father and of the holy angels. But truly I tell you, there are
some standing here who will not taste death before they see the kingdom of god

Luke
When Jesus saw the crowds, he went up the mountain; and after he sat down, his disciples came to him.
Then he began to speak, and taught them, saying:
'Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
'Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.
'Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.
'Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.
'Blessed are the merciful, for they will receive mercy.
'Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.
'Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.
'Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
'Blessed are you when people revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely
on my account. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you
Matthew
He came down with them and stood on a level place, with a great crowd of his disciples and a great
multitude of people from all Judea, Jerusalem, and the coast of Tyre and Sidon. They had come to hear him
and to be healed of their diseases; and those who were troubled with unclean spirits were cured. And all in
the crowd were trying to touch him, for power came out from him and healed all of them.
Luke
Then he looked up at his disciples and said:
'Blessed are you who are poor,
for yours is the kingdom of God.
'Blessed are you who are hungry now,
for you will be filled.
'Blessed are you who weep now,
for you will laugh.
'Blessed are you when people hate you, and when they exclude you, revile you, and defame you on
account of the Son of Man. Rejoice on that day and leap for joy, for surely your reward is great in heaven;
for that is what their ancestors did to the prophets.
'But woe to you who are rich,
for you have received your consolation.
'Woe to you who are full now,
for you will be hungry.
'Woe to you who are laughing now,
for you will mourn and weep.
'Woe to you when all speak well of you, for that is what their ancestors did to the false prophets.
Luke
Immediately he made his disciples get into the boat and go on ahead to the other side, to Bethsaida, while
he dismissed the crowd. After saying farewell to them, he went up on the mountain to pray.
When evening came, the boat was out on the lake, and he was alone on the land. When he saw that they
were straining at the oars against an adverse wind, he came towards them early in the morning, walking on
the lake. He intended to pass them by. But when they saw him walking on the lake, they thought it was a
ghost and cried out; for they all saw him and were terrified. But immediately he spoke to them and said,
'Take heart, it is I; do not be afraid.' Then he got into the boat with them and the wind ceased. And they
were utterly astounded, for they did not understand about the loaves, but their hearts were hardened.
Mark
Immediately he made the disciples get into the boat and go on ahead to the other side, while he dismissed
the crowds. And after he had dismissed the crowds, he went up the mountain by himself to pray. When
evening came, he was there alone, but by this time the boat, battered by the waves, was far from the land,
for the wind was against them. And early in the morning he came walking towards them on the lake. But
when the disciples saw him walking on the lake, they were terrified, saying, 'It is a ghost!' And they cried
out in fear. But immediately Jesus spoke to them and said, 'Take heart, it is I; do not be afraid.'
Peter answered him, 'Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the water.' He said, 'Come.' So
Peter got out of the boat, started walking on the water, and came towards Jesus. But when he noticed the
strong wind, he became frightened, and beginning to sink, he cried out, 'Lord, save me!' Jesus immediately
reached out his hand and caught him, saying to him, 'You of little faith, why did you doubt?' When they
got into the boat, the wind ceased. And those in the boat worshipped him, saying, 'Truly you are the Son of god
Matthew
Since many have undertaken to set down an orderly account of the events that have been fulfilled among
us, just as they were handed on to us by those who from the beginning were eyewitnesses and servants of
the word, I too decided, after investigating everything carefully from the very first, to write an orderly
account for you, most excellent Theophilus, so that you may know the truth concerning the things about
which you have been instructed.
Luke
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the
beginning with God. All things came into being through him, and without him not one thing came into
being. What has come into being in him was life, and the life was the light of all people. The light shines in
the darkness, and the darkness did not overcome it.
John
Now Jesus did many other signs in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book. But
these are written so that you may come to believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that
through believing you may have life in his name.
John
In the first book, Theophilus, I wrote about all that Jesus did and taught from the beginning until the day
when he was taken up to heaven, after giving instructions through the Holy Spirit to the apostles whom he
had chosen.
Acts
When the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place. And suddenly from heaven there
came a sound like the rush of a violent wind, and it filled the entire house where they were sitting. Divided
tongues, as of fire, appeared among them, and a tongue rested on each of them. All of them were filled with
the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other languages, as the Spirit gave them ability
Acts
Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this: to care for orphans and widows in their
distress, and to keep oneself unstained by the world
James
What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if you say you have faith but do not have works? Can faith save
you? If a brother or sister is naked and lacks daily food, and one of you says to them, 'Go in peace; keep
warm and eat your fill', and yet you do not supply their bodily needs, what is the good of that? So faith by
itself, if it has no works, is dead.
James
For I am not ashamed of the gospel; it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who has faith, to the
Jew first and also to the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed through faith for faith; as it is
written, 'The one who is righteous will live by faith.'
Romans
Then what becomes of boasting? It is excluded. By what law? By that of works? No, but by the law of
faith. For we hold that a person is justified by faith apart from works prescribed by the law.
Romans
Children, it is the last hour! As you have heard that antichrist is coming, so now many antichrists have
come. From this we know that it is the last hour.
1 John
Who is the liar but the one who denies that Jesus is the Christ? This is the antichrist, the one who denies the
Father and the Son.
1 John
and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God. And this is the spirit of the antichrist, of which
you have heard that it is coming; and now it is already in the world.
1 John
