Republic a form of government in which all of the powers of government are given to the people, who elect representatives to make the laws
Declaration an announcement or proclamation
Treaty of Paris the treaty signed in 1783 by Great Britain, France, and the United States that ended the American Revolution
Independence political or economic freedom
Proclamation of 1763 an order issued by King George III that moved Georgia's southern boundary to the St. Mary's River; it also forbade the colonies from moving west of the Appalachain Mountain
French & Indian War the war the took place in North American from 1754-1763 in which the French and their Indian allies fought the British for control of the Ohio River Valley
Patriots those colonists who wanted independence from Great Britain; also called Whigs, Liberty Boys, Colonials, Sons and Daughter of Liberty
Loyalists a person's devotion or feeling of attachment to a person, group, or ideas
Petitions (noun) a formal, written request

Ally one who shares a common sense
Revolutionary War the struggle of the former British colonies in America to gain their independence from British. Also called the war for Independence or the American Revolution
Act a law
Repeal to take back, or to cancel, a law
Treaty a formal agreement between nations
Traitors person guilty of the crime of treason, or disloyalty to the government
Boycott a protest in which people refuse to buy certain items until specific conditions are met
Milita a citizen army
Monopoly when one company has total control of the market
Tyranny the injust use of government power. A ruler who uses power in this way is a tyrant
Strategy a plan of action to accomplish something
