Terms	Definitions
line	A straight path that extends without end in opposite directions.
Ray	(mathematics) a straight line extending from a point
perpendicular lines	Two lines that intersect to form right angles
intersecting lines	lines that cross at one point
square	having four equal sides and four right angles or forming a right angle
circle	A circle is a shape with no angles, straight lines and no sides. A circle is a round shape
rectangle	a quadrilateral with four right angles. Two squares = a rectangle
rombus	4 congruent sides, 2 sets of parallel sides. 4 sides the same
parallel lines	lines that never intersect. never meet.
pentigon	5 sided shape
trapizoid	a quadrilateral with exactly 1 pair of parallel sides
parallelogram	a quadrilateral with two pairs of parallel sides
polygons	a closed figure, all straight lines, and no intersecting lines
quadrilateral	A polygon with 4 sides
acute triangle	A triangle with three acute angles
obtuse triangle	a triangle that has 1 obtuse angle and 2 acute angles
right angle	an angle that measures 90 degrees
equilateral triangle	a triangle with three equal sides
scalene triangle	a triangle with no equal sides
isoscelese triangle	a triangle with 2 equal sides
ajacent	adjective; lying close to or next to
congruent	Having the same size and shape(same length)
Translation-slide	..., A translation moves the figure in a straight line, changing its location, but not its position. Also called a slide. does not turn or flip
rotation-turn	A movement of a figure that turns that figure around a fixed point. not turn or flip
reflection-flip	Flipping a figure to produce a mirror image. flipping to next side
