1804-1806 Years-Lewis and Clark explore the Louisiana territory.
Adams-Onís treaty. Treaty name-John Quincy Adams and Luis de Onís compromise in 1819 that Spain wouldn't fight for oregon, and America gets florida. America also won't claim Texas.
Missouri Compromise Compromise name-In 1820, Missouri is admitted to the Union as a slave state only if Maine is admitted as a free state. Both abolitionists and slave owners want equal representation.

1844 Year-James Polk elected president, "54-40 or fight"
1846-1848 Years-War with Mexico
Compromise of 1850 Compromise name-In 1850, California entered the Union as a free state, and New Mexico and Utah used popular sovereignty.
1876 Year-Custer loses at Little Bighorn.
1890 Year-Sitting Bull is killed, also Wounded Knee.
Kansas-Nebraska Act Compromise name-Kansas and Nebraska are admitted to the Union
Republican party party name-anti slavery
Democratic party party name-pro slavery
Dred Scott decision decision name-slaves are considered property, so maybe slavery should be legal in the north
Raid on Harper's Ferry raid name-John brown seized Harpers Ferry
1860 Year-Lincoln was elected president for the first time, but with very few votes in the south.
Secession name-the southern states seceded because the Union was discriminating against them. Led by South Carolina.
