When is it important to slow down? narrow/ winding roads, intersection/ rr crossing, hills, sharp or blind curves, pedestrian hazards, wet/slippery roads
What does keep to the right mean? where? drive on right half of roadway unless on oneway street, left lane is only for passing on the highway
What is the proper way of passing? Only on the left, dont pass on the right, line is broken and only when safe.
What is yielding right of way? Giving emergency vehicles and other important vehicles go before you.
What is a controlled intersection? When 2 or more roads join and there is no traffic sign or regulatory sign.
What is an uncontrolled intersection? When 2 or more roads join and there is no traffic sign or regulatory sign.
What is an acceleration lane? Extra lane at entrances used by motorists to speed up to join the highway.
What is a deceleration lane? Extra lanes at highway exits on the right side of the roadway.
What is the New Jersey Law for Right on Red? You are allowed to turn if you fully stop and check for traffic and if there isn't a no turn on red sign.
What is a blind intersection? Buildings, vehicles or bushes are blocking your view.
Where should you not pass? on a right lane or a one way street, hill, narrow bridges, underpasses, tunnels
When should you not stop? avoid stopping in entry and exit lanes, highways, no parking signs, bridges, tunnels, sidewalks.
When should you stop? signs, signals, traffic rules, stop sign, pedestrians, officers.
Where should you not park? crosswalks, safety zones, 20 ft from safety, near property marked street, construction zones.
How should you enter a curve? slow down before entering/ avoid drifting into other lane.
During what hours should you put your ights on when driving? between 1/2 hour after sunset and 1/2 hour before sunrise
What are the bright beams and dim beams used for? Bright Beams: open country
Dim Beams: city driving
What are the overhead lights for? to see everything ahead in the dark, located on the roof of the car.
What is the littering fine? up to $1,000
What is the fine for using a cell phone? $100-$250
