| Concentration Camp | A place where large numbers of people, usually as political prisoners, are kept in a small area with limited facilities (shelters, bathrooms), sometimes to provide forced labor and sometimes to await execution. |
| National Socialist German Workers' Party (NAZI) | Hitler's political party that ruled Germany from 1933-1945. Very anti semitic. |
| SS | Elite military; Hitler's body guards and ran the concentration camps. Controlled the concentration camps. |

| Totalitarianism | The absolute control of the government over everything. No disagreement is allowed. |
| Gestapo | A secret police, they didn't wear uniforms, spied on people to see if they were helping Jews. |
| Holocaust | The sacrifice- Jews thought god was sacrificing them 6,000,000 Jews killed and 5,000,000 people who were not Jews killed. Jews called it a Burnt Offering. Holocaust was originally a Jewish term. |
| Final Solution | The Nazi plan to eliminate the Jews, Gypsies, handicap, slovic and well-educated people from the earth |
| Death Camps | Camp whose primay purpose was genocide. If you werent healthy enough to work, they kill you |
| Forced labor camps | Slave labor for the Nazi regime and they were purposely over worked and under fed. |
| Genocide | The attempt to destroy an entire group of people. |
| Kristallnacht | A state sponsored destruction on Jews shops and houses (burning) 10,000 Jewish men were arrested on November 9th and 10th for no reason. |
| Yellow Star | A badge of shame. Identified the Jews. It was the star of David. |
| Anti-Semitism | Prejidice/Hatred against anything Jewish. |
| Euphemism | Mild/ Vauge expression for something that is harsh or brutal. Example is The Final Solution. |
| Propaganda | The deliberate spreading of idea. Info or rumors to harm or help another group. |
| Ghetto | A waiting room to see where the jews would go. A corner of the city where all the Jews were crammed in. |
| Auschwitz-Birkenau | Largest Nazi concentration camp: in Poland, around 1,000,000 Jews were killed |
| Swastika | The symbol of the Nazi's. Originally a jewish symbol. |
| Nuremberg Laws | Racial laws passed to take away all rights of Jewish people. |
| Kapo | Someone who is a prisoner who gets put in charge of groups in concentration camps. |
| Allies | 26 Nations that faught against Hitler. The main nations were US, GB, and the Soviet Union. |
| Axis | The Nations that were fighting with Hitler; Germany, Italy, Japan. |
| Aryan | Then Central myth of the Nazi party, the belief in white, racial superiority. |
| Occupation | The control of a country by a foreign power |
