What was the 2nd Humanitarian reason for America intervention in Cuba? Many were American citizens.
Who is the newspaperman who fan the flames writing outrageous stories, many completed fabricated. Known as yellow journalism? Randolph Hearst and Joseph Pulitzer.
Who is Enrique Dupuy de Lome? Spanish ambassador to the United States. He called Mikenly a weakling.
What's the U.S.S. Maine? A boat that explodes off the coast of Cuba killing 260 crew members.
Who blew up the U.S.S Maine? U.S. experts claim it came from outside the ship.
What did Roosevelt order? The pacific squadron in Hong Kong to sail for the Phillipines and keep the Spanish fleet from sailing to Cuba.
Who is Commodore George Dewey? Destroys the Spanish fleet in Manila Bay.
Who's the Rough Riders? Led by Theodore Roosevelt, the unit included, athletes, cowboys, miners, and police. They took San Juan Hill by foot over looking Santiago.

What was the 2nd thing about Venezuela? Germany and England blockade her ports.
What was the 3rd thing about Venezuela? Roosevelt steps in and ends the dispute through arbitration.
What was the important addition to the Monroe Doctrine? The first country this was applied do was the Dominican Republic, we helped pay off her debt.
Why did Roosevelt see the Philippines as the "Achilles heel" of American defense? He believed Japan would become a future threat because of their imperialistic ambitions.
What was Roosevelt's 1st accomplishment? Strengthened the power of the military with a focus on naval power.
What was Roosevelt's 2nd accomplishment? Broke up "trusts" - organized monopolies.
What was Roosevelt's 3rd accomplishment? Preserved wild places for future generations; national forests and parks wildlife refuges.
