Setting The time and place of a story
Theme The Lesson the author tries to teach the reader; insight about life and how to treat people.
Symbol An object or person in the story which takes on an extra added meaning and represents an idea the author wants to comment on through the story.
Conflict The Action when oppossing forces(protagonist vs antagonist) meet.
External Confict occurs between a character and something outside of them
Internal Conflict a problem or struggle within a character
Man vs Man Conflict when one character in a story has a problem with one or more of the other characters
Man vs Nature conflict with forces of nature. It tests the limits of a person's strength and will to livel.
Man vs Supernatural the conflict is against something out of this world like aliens, ghosts, magic, etc.
Man vs Society A character has a conflict or problem with some element of society - the school, the law, etc.
Man vs Self when a character faces a problem with his/her own thoughts and feelings
